Maple Pork and Wild Rice Sausage

I have been in a cooking rut – capital R…U… T!  It happens.

Over the weekend, we were in Minneapolis where restaurants often feature foods with wild rice.  (And menus that inspire!)  I had a Chicken Wild Rice Sausage patty that was yummy so I decided to give it a try at home (with ground pork) and really liked it.

Let’s get started…

Cook wild rice acccoring to package directions.

In a large mixing bowl, combine ground pork (or ground chicken) and cooked wild rice.

Grab fresh thyme and sage.

Pull thyme leaves from the stem and minse the sage leaf.  Set aside.

Next, gather pure maple syrup and a few spices; paprika, cayenne pepper, salt and black pepper.

Add maple syrup, spices and herbs to the mixing bowl.

Mix ingredients, using your hands, until well incorporated.  Shape into 8 small patties.

Over medium high heat, fry the sausage patties…

Flip over…

And serve.

Enjoy!
