Double Smoked Ham

We were blessed with beautiful weather on Easter so instead of baking our ham, I decided to do the cooking outdoors.  The smell on the deck was amazing!

My sister-in-law shared her recipe years ago.  It’s my favorite way to prepare ham, both indoors and out.

Let’s get started…

Preheat smoker/grill/oven to 300 degrees.

Grab a handful of whole cloves

Insert cloves into the ham every few inches apart.

For the basting, gather brown sugar, apple juice, dijon mustard and apricot preserves.

Heat the basting ingredients in a small saucepan over medium heat until simmering.

Place the ham (Half or whole) into a large baking dish.  Slowly drizzle sauce over the entire ham.

Place ham in smoker.

Bake for 10-15 minutes per pound, basting every 30 minutes.

When heated through, remove ham from the smoker.

Remove the cloves, slice, drizzle sauce over ham slices and serve.

Enjoy!
