Give Thanks In All Circumstances

My Thanksgiving grocery list is prepared.  The next several days will be filled with food preparation and thought (perhaps too much) about the anticipated Thanksgiving meal that will be shared with family.  It is a favorite time of year for many.

You and I will pause, I am sure, over the next week and reflect on our many blessings.  I love this tradition associated with Thanksgiving, but, we are also reminded to be thankful and give thanks in all circumstances.  I continue to learn what it means to give thanks in all circumstances.  Here are words I love and turn to for encouragement.

Hebrews 12:28-29 “Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our “God is a consuming fire.”

Colossians 3:15 “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts since as members of one body you were to called to peace.  And be thankful.”

Philippians 4:6-7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

And finally, a favorite…

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 “Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
