A Celebration for Dave’s 1st Anniversary

On January 6th, 2015, my husband Dave underwent a Bone Marrow Transplant for Leukemia.  Last Wednesday was DAVE’S ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY!  We celebrated with a party in our farm shed!

The night was filled with great JOY!  People arrived wearing the color ORANGE for Leukemia Awareness like the shoes below.

The past year and a half, our family, friends and community covered us in prayer, cooked for our kids and workers, cleaned out our fridge, cleaned our house, checked our cabin, helped with our farm and the list goes on and on.  Not only was the party in celebration of Dave’s 1 year Transplant Anniversary, but also for everyone who supported us throughout Dave’s cancer journey.

Family and friends came from all over to join us in celebration!

It was a beautiful, chilly and SNOWY January evening

as well as the “Fermentations” table!

At the end of the evening, our Pastor lifted us in a prayer of thanksgiving.  Following the prayer, we gathered outside in the snow to watch the burning of Christmas trees – a perfect ending to a precious night!

I just pulled out my Journal from a year ago – January 6, 2015 – Transplant Day.  I began with, “It was an emotional day filled with joy and thanksgiving!”  I am smiling as I type my thoughts from the evening of January 6, 2016 – it was an emotional day filled with joy and thanksgiving!

Thanks for spending time with me and please leave comments and thoughts!

Blessings!

James 1:17 “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights who does not change life shifting shadows.”

A special THANK YOU to the friends that helped with the party!  We are thankful!!!

  1. It was a special night with very special people – glad we made it!

  2. Thanks for allowing so many family and friends to follow you thru your family’s tribulations and joys. You gave us all a gift each day you wrote on caring bridge. We needed the stark reminders about who is really in charge of our days on this earth. Your daily biblical references helped us grow in love and faith. Day to day we never know where our inspirations will come from…our hearts and minds must remain open and receptive. Looking forward to following your blog.

  3. WAY cool!!! Thanks for including us 🙂
Can’t wait to see you all at the lake

  4. It is amazing what Dave has gone through this last year in his battle. We have kept him in our prayers and will continue to do so. May God continue to bless you all.
